Chrome ROM
Our Run-of-Mine chrome ore is extracted directly from our Northwest and Limpopo pits and sold into the local market without beneficiation. The ore is screened and sized at the pit to meet buyer specifications.

What is Chrome ROM?
Run-of-Mine (ROM) chrome ore is the product as it comes from the ground — screened, sized and delivered without any chemical or physical beneficiation. For many South African foundries and ferrochrome producers, ROM is the preferred feedstock because it avoids the cost of further upgrading.
At Chromax, our ROM is graded between 30% and 44% Cr₂O₃, with the majority of our output sitting at the higher end of that range due to our selective mining approach and experienced operator teams.
Chrome Concentrate
Our Chrome Concentrate is produced at our on-site washplant, where sweepings and low-grade ROM are crushed, washed and upgraded into a consistent 40%–42% chrome concentrate suitable for both local use and export.
What is Chrome Concentrate?
Chrome concentrate is the beneficiated form of chrome ore — crushed, washed and separated to remove waste material and lift the Cr₂O₃ content. Our concentrate is produced entirely on-site at our washplant, giving us full control over grade, consistency and supply timing.
The concentrate is sold locally to processors and exported to three international buyers in China, where it feeds into smelters and downstream manufacturing.
